Spray drift workshop at Minlaton
1 min read

GRAIN Producers SA is hosting a free spray drift workshop in Minlaton this Thursday, May 29, as part of a statewide program aimed at improving chemical stewardship and spray application practices.

Supported by Primary Industries and Regions SA, the workshops provide practical, science-based guidance to help grain producers minimise the risk of spray drift and manage inversion conditions.

Spray application specialist Mary O’Brien will lead the session.

With more than 25 years of experience working with farmers and agricultural industries across Australia, Mary combines deep technical knowledge with a relatable, engaging style.

“Spray drift poses a real risk to our industry’s social licence,” GPSA chief executive Brad Perry said.

“These workshops are about giving growers the confidence, tools and information to make safe, effective decisions — and to show the wider community that we take our responsibilities seriously.”

Topics include spray behaviour, weather conditions, nozzle selection, and recordkeeping.

GPSA has already delivered 11 workshops with strong attendance and positive feedback.

The Minlaton workshop will run from 9am to 3pm at the Minlaton District Community and Sports Centre.

Morning tea and lunch will be provided.

This is also a workshop at Crystal Brook Football Club tomorrow, Wednesday, 28 May.

Grain producers, spray operators, agronomists, machinery operators and farm workers are all encouraged to attend.
