Lyndsey a local winspiration

MOONTA’S Lyndsey Jackson has been recognised as a leader in technology after winning at the 2020 Winnovation Awards.
The awards, which have been held annually since 2014, are an initiative of Women in Innovation SA and aim to showcase and celebrate the successes of female innovators in South Australia.
Ms Jackson claimed the technology award for her role as co-founder and chief technology officer at Platfarm.
Platfarm is an app which enables farmers to make any tractor a smart tractor and take data off the map and into the field.
“It was an honour just to be nominated,” she said. The awards night was held over Zoom late last year.
“There were so many amazing women who were nominated and it was a shame to not get to meet them,” Ms Jackson said.
“These awards are important, especially around technology, because we know there is a shortage of women and girls in the field.
“In my acceptance speech I thanked my first tech boss who opened the door of tech for me and gave me a paid job.
“There’s a push to get people in jobs but they need to be supported and reachable to a whole range of people.
“That’s what 2020 taught us I think, everyone should have access to technology because they are going to be critical skills for the future.
“It’s not acceptable now to leave women, or other groups, out of the conversation.
“It was an honour to win this award, it’s definitely one of the most prestigious in the state.”
