TWENTY years ago, Mid North broadacre farmer Colin Mitchell brought the first Bogballe M-Line linkage fertiliser spreader into South Australia.

The motivation behind the purchase was to have the ability to accurately apply fertiliser as and when required late in the growing period, as opposed to putting higher rates out at the time of seeding.

As the benefits of this practice become more widely known, interest in the Bogballe product grew throughout the Mid North and Yorke Peninsula.

It wasn’t long before the then Bogballe importer from Victoria suggested Colin try to sell a few of the machines, given he had inadvertently become well versed in the field.

Dozens of Bogballe spreaders were sold over the proceeding years out of the small family farmyard.

Techgrow moved to larger premises in Clare in 2007, and again expanded to the 408 Main North Road Clare site in 2021.

In 2012, Techgrow took over the national importership of the Bogballe spreaders, which it now distributes through more than 45 dealerships.

Further imported products have been added to the product line since then, with more in the pipeline for the future.

Colin and wife Kathy’s farming background has played a pivotal role in shaping Techgrow over the years, as they have a deep understanding of customers’ needs.

In practice, this has led to the business focusing first and foremost on quality backup service and support, as well as being highly selective with the products it chooses to represent.

This philosophy has shaped an impressive product offering including Bogballe spreaders, Hardi sprayers, Boss air seeders, SenseSpray spot-spray technology, HE-VA tillage equipment, Hustler mowers and Spitwater pressure cleaners.

The expanded range has meant Techgrow has been able to engage with the wider community’s needs.

The Spitwater pressure cleaners and Hustler mowers in particular are suited to many industries and applications, including wineries, sporting bodies, councils and general property maintenance.

“Due to the quality, longevity and precision of our product lines, investing in equipment with Techgrow is an investment in the future of your operation,” Techgrow regional sales manager Jacob Kain said.

“We believe strongly in adding value to and improving customers’ operations, rather than just providing something to get a job done.”

Backing up the product range is Techgrow’s friendly service and spare parts team, which has grown in numbers and experience over the years in business.

“We have a really good team together with a diverse range of skills and experience, meaning customers can expect a professional, quality service experience,” service manager Chris Braisher said.

“Given we focus on several key brands, we consider ourselves specialists in what we sell, meaning the customer is very well supported.”

With the 20-year milestone reached, Techgrow thanks the SA farming community for all its support over the years, and the team looks forward to looking after their valued customer base for many more to come.
