THE Farrow family will hold their 64th annual on-property ram auction at Babirra Poll Merino and Dohne Stud, Stansbury, on Tuesday, August 12.
“The 30 Poll Merino rams we will offer for auction this year will again have Australian Sheep Breeding Values from Sheep Genetics Australia,” stud principal Lynda Farrow said.
“This is to ensure we keep producing the dual-purpose traits that our paddock-reared sheep are renowned for.”
This year’s sale team will include Poll Merino progeny sired by Babirra Pink 9701, Leahcim 2481, Babirra Black 2074 (Leahcim son), Babirra Dk Red 2200 and Dk Red 2203 (Moorundie Park sons), and Moorundie South L015.
In 2024, Babirra purchased two Poll Merino rams from Moorundie Park, which offer size, frame and great crimpy wool.
A ram purchased from Mernowie Stud also has exceptional wool but with more emphasis on the eye muscle trait.
The stud’s Poll Merino ram auction will be held immediately after Babirra’s 24th Dohne ram auction, offering 40 rams.
Progeny from Babirra, Chirniminup, Western Australia will be among those for sale.
This year, the Farrows purchased two Dohne rams from Harewood Dohne Stud in New South Wales.
Both are structurally sound with exceptional growth and fleece weight.
“Here at Babirra, we continue to improve our genetics by purchasing rams from other studs in Australia,” Mrs Farrow said.
All Babirra rams are paddock reared, Brucellosis Free Accredited and OJD-MN3v Approved Vaccinated.
“We thank our clients for having purchased from us in the past and we look forward to your continued support,” she said.
The stud’s on-property field day and auction will be held on Tuesday, August 12, with inspection from 9am. The auction will start at 11am.
A pre-sale inspection day will be held on Tuesday, August 5 from 10am to 4pm.
Clients are asked to contact Lynda or Craig Farrow or selling agents Elders and Nutrien Ag Solutions, Minlaton, for more details.
